The last blog.  This is it, our trip is over and we have returned to the true North strong and free.  We returned with mixed emotions but it was time.  It is always tempting to chase the rainbow.  The best snorkeling is on the next island, the whitest sand is on the next beach and the bluest sky is just over the next mountain.  But before you know it you realise you're just drifting not appreciating what you see as you pass it by, eyes fixed firmly ahead.

Before long we found we were missing having something useful to do.  Winter was setting in back home and there was wood to cut, vehicles to winterize, snow to plow and we felt that we had neglected our home long enough.  Then there were friends and family sorely missed, home cooked meals; a hearty stew, a spicy chili, a turkey dinner and finally our own bed and our comfy chairs.  Time to go home and dream of our next adventure.



Our last taste.  A trip to Phuket Thailand before our trip home.


Fresh fruit smoothie stands are every where. The best were in Hoi An.


The four intrepid travellers reunited for a few days in Phuket.

An excursion to the famous James Bond island, led us to many strange rock formations.

You actually went through the island to get to a lagoon surrounded by island's.

Inside the lagoon the scenery is extraordinary.

Hanoing

 A gossip of old crones We followed the Ho Chi Minh trail north to Hanoi.  The grand old dame of the orient.  According to the Lonely Planet travel guide "Hanoi is the most graceful, atmospheric, and captivating capital in the region."  So our expectations were high and the old dame did not disappoint.  What the guide books fail to mention was just how alive she is and how much fun.  Here the exotic old girl blends seamlessly with the dynamic, exciting and perhaps frenetic pace of the modern and emerging force that is the new Vietnam. the night market Hanoi has everything you could want in an oriental city.  Ancient history, French colonial architecture and a very contemporary attitude.  We loved it.
